“Children are living beings – more living than grown-up people who have built shells of habit around themselves. Therefore it is absolutely necessary for their mental health and development that they should not have mere schools for their lessons, but a world whose guiding spirit is personal love.”
-Rabindranath Tagore
Myofascial Release for Infants
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a highly specialized stretching technique used by bodyworkers to treat individuals with a variety of soft tissue problems.
To understand what Myofascial Release is and why it works, you have to first understand a little about fascia. Fascia is a thin tissue that covers all the organs of the body, every muscle, and every fiber within each muscle. When muscle fibers are injured, the fibers and the fascia which surrounds them become short and tight. This uneven stress can be transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body, causing pain and a variety of other symptoms in areas you may not expect. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the uneven tension in the injured fascia.
“So how can it help infants?” You may ask… Myofascial Release can improve many common childhood problems coming from restrictions in the body’s many layers of connective tissue. Fascial restrictions inhibit growth, movement, function, chemical changes, and much more.
MFR can, sometimes instantly, offer relief from:
- Asthma symptoms
- Birth trauma symptoms
- Pelvic imbalances
- Digestive issues
- Neck and head trauma
- Lack of energy and balance
- Sensory and processing difficulties
- ADD/ADHD symptoms
