“Life is a tragedy of nutrition”
~ Arnold Ehret, Definite Cure of Chronic Constipation Also Overcoming Constipation Naturally
Have you noticed a serious change in your appetite or your weight? Do you feel increasingly tired after meals? Do you frequently feel bloated after eating? Some people see these symptoms as “normal,” but they could actually be signs of a food allergy or intolerance. Welcome to our new blog series: “Wellness Starts on the Inside,” where, over the next few weeks, we will be touching on different food allergies and how to tackle them. We will be giving you tips based on personal experience and even some recipes that are tailored to specific food allergies.
Food allergies are quickly becoming more common. Some people believe that it may be due to over-exposure to certain foods in our diet because processed foods almost always contain some form of soy, corn, or gluten. It doesn’t stop there. Offending food allergens can be found in cleaning products, personal care products such as shampoo or lotion, and even medications as well. The only way to keep your food allergy under control is to become your own advocate – learn to read your product labels! If you are concerned that you may have an allergy to something in particular, learn where to find it and how to avoid it. Stop eating that food for a while and take notice of how you feel. If you begin to see an improvement, then you most likely have an intolerance or allergy to that food. There are also detox programs you can do to find out if you have a food sensitivity. One that I highly recommend is the Standard Process 21 Day Purification Program. This program has many health benefits, but it also cuts out all of the most common offending foods and allows you to reintroduce them back into your diet slowly, so that you’ll notice immediately if you have a sensitivity. Then, it’s time to see your healthcare provider and find out just how serious this sensitivity is.
Check back in next week as we talk about gluten intolerance and Celiacs Disease.
