“When the heart speaks, the mind finds it indecent to object.”
– Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being
We often receive massages for relief of sore muscles or to unwind after a busy week. Have you ever considered the fact that massage therapy could be beneficial to your heart health as well?
February is American Heart Month! Throughout this month, the healthcare community focuses on spreading awareness of the importance of heart health, and how we can maintain it. Research shows that we can control many risk factors for heart disease including, but not limited to, maintaining a healthy blood pressure and reducing the amount of physical and mental stress in our lives – basically, taking the time to take care of ourselves.
Receiving massages regularly encourages the blood to circulate more efficiently, which helps to regulate the blood pressure in the body. This also promotes the release of endorphins (feel good hormones), inhibiting the production of the stress chemicals, cortisol and epinephrine. Not to mention, it feels pretty amazing too!
Join in on American Heart Month by spreading the word! Then get a massage, and show your heart that you love it with all of your heart.
Thanks for visiting! We at Koru wish you (and your heart) wellness.
