“Emotion always has it’s roots in the unconscious, and manifests itself in the body.”
– Irene Claremont de Castillejo
It’s that time of year again… Time for family, holiday shopping, LOTS of cooking, and STRESS! As much as we all enjoy the holidays, and being able to spend them with our loved ones, we can never seem to escape the stress and rushing around that surround the last few months of the year. It’s important to remember that, while you’re busy giving to and taking care of everyone else, it’s good to take some time out to take care of yourself as well.
Massage and yoga are both great ways to relieve your body and your mind of stress. The stretching and muscle manipulation increase blood flow, naturally reducing the levels of the stress hormones, cortical and norepinephrine, and increasing the dopamine and serotonin levels. These are hormones that, when at low levels, increase the risk of depression and anxiety.
Do you practice yoga, and receive massage regularly? How do you think it effects your ability to cope with stress? Leave us a comment or email us! Even better, get a jump start on managing your holiday stress, and sign up for a yoga class and massage NOW!
Thanks for visiting! We at Koru wish you wellness and a very happy Thanksgiving!
