“Where there is love, there is life.”
– Gandhi

Valentine’s Day – the time to celebrate love. It’s only days away! On this day, not only should we celebrate the ones we love, but also our health! Did you know that the feelings of love produce hormones and chemicals that can increase our health and well being?

Dopamine: Dopamine is thought to play a significant role in the body’s movements, motivation, decision making, and mood. Increasing dopamine in the brain may help to treat many illnesses. It may also help individuals to recover from and resist problems with chemical addiction.

Oxytocin: Oxytocin is somewhat a hormone of attachment. It increases feelings of calm and closeness and allows us to forge and strengthen social and romantic relationships. Additionally, it allows us to stave off a number of psychological and physiological issues.

Endorphines – Endorphines are a natural pain reliever. An endorphine increase also reduces feelings of stress and anxiety, and increases feelings of happiness and relaxation.

Norepinephrine – Norepinephrine is a hormone that, when at increased levels, decreases depression. Doctors also use it as an injection to help regulate blood conditions.

So this week, while you’re thanking your loved one for playing a special role in your life, be sure to thank them for keeping you healthy as well, even if they don’t realize they’re doing it.

Thanks for visiting! We at Koru wish you wellness and LOVE! Happy Valentine’s Day!
