“If you’re feeling out of kilter, don’t know why or what about, let your feet reveal the answer, find the sore spot, work it out.”
-Eunice Ingham, Mother of Reflexology
Ahh… Who doesn’t love a great foot massage? BUT did you know that reflexology is not just a relaxing foot rub? It is actually a form of bodywork used to treat many ailments of the body and it’s systems, which help it function.
Reflexologists believe that different points in your feet, hands, and even ears connect with different areas of the body and it’s organs. When using the appropriate pressure, in the correct spot, a reflexologist can alleviate pain or disfunction in certain areas of the body.
Like most bodywork, reflexology isn’t intended as a cure-all or to diagnose disease, but it is often used as a wonderful compliment to other treatments for issues such as anxiety, depression, cancer, diabetes, headaches, and digestive problems. It is also becoming more commonly used to help relieve many discomforts during pregnancy such as swelling, muscle and joint pain, and inability to sleep.
All in all, reflexology is a safe, noninvasive method of treating, and sometimes preventing through detoxification, many issues the human body can face.
