Looking Back on 2022

2022 has been a year of growth and change for Vinings Massage & Wellness. We teamed up with many incredible partners, created new programs for our clients, and continued to provide premium massage therapy services for the Atlanta area. We’re excited to reflect on all that we accomplished this past year and look forward to the many new opportunities we have planned for 2023!

Bringing Oncology Massage to Atlanta’s Hospitals & Healthcare Systems

We’ve been fortunate enough to partner with several major hospital systems in the Atlanta region. Together we’ve established client and employee-facing massage programs that allow us to make massage therapy available to a wider audience.

One local group that we partner with is Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As Georgia’s leading pediatric healthcare provider, Children’s has supported the local community for over 100 years and is dedicated to providing the best support possible for kids and their families.

We’re grateful to be their sole provider of employee massage therapy. Whether we are working with their doctors, nurses, PA’s, or one of the many support departments and administrators, we love the work we do for them and are grateful to be able to provide stress and pain relief to those who provide so much for so many.

In addition to this, our team is currently providing client-facing massage in the infusion centers and in-patient rooms at Piedmont Fayetteville. We are working on restarting our client-facing program to Piedmont Atlanta in 2023. This would allow us to offer oncology massage on a wider scale and help more people experience the various benefits it has to offer. We are so grateful for the trust they have in us and the value that the Piedmont Healthcare system places on this program.

Continued Education

Oncology team photoEarlier in 2022, we trained some more of our massage therapists in oncology massage. This modality is designed specifically for people undergoing cancer treatment and those working through the recovery process. It’s also known for providing a relaxing experience and can be used for patients who will have lasting, long-term effects from their treatment.

Our oncology massage therapists are featured here (left to right: Aaron, Eslyne, Cara, and Erin). By providing training opportunities like this, our hope is that we’ll be able to better serve our clients and offer a broader range of massage modalities and techniques.

Georgia Core Survivorship Series

As part of the Georgia Core Survivorship Series, Cara Thurman, Owner of Vinings Massage & Wellness, presented “Oncology Massage In Treatment and Beyond.” She discussed several aspects of oncology massage including:

  • Considerations and modifications massage therapists should make to ensure a healthy and safe experience for each patient
  • The benefits cancer patients and survivors can experience from massage therapy
  • Tips on how patients can physically self-soothe at home

The Vinings Massage & Wellness Oncology Fund

In 2022, we established the Vinings Massage & Wellness Oncology Fund. Clients now have the opportunity to support cancer patients in active treatment or recovery by making a donation.

All proceeds go to the Vinings Massage & Wellness Patient-facing Massage Program. Through this program, our team of oncology massage therapists provides oncology massages to patients in Atlanta experiencing financial hardships due to their diagnosis.

Oncology Massage Program With A New Daly Beginning

A New Daly Beginning is a nonprofit team of professionally trained massage and skincare therapists. Our shared mission is to compassionately serve and care for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers by providing a variety of massage treatments.

Each participant of the program can receive up to 3 massages free of charge. Eligible participants include those that are:

  • Cancer patients (in active treatment)
  • Cancer survivors (1 year + out of treatment)
  • Caregivers (those actively caring for a loved one in treatment)

Our goal with this program is to help to take the load off caretakers, patients, and survivors, and allow them to experience the many benefits of oncology massage. 2023 Wellness Retreat

In the fall of 2023, we will be hosting our first-ever Wellness Retreat with Carly Chivers, Owner and Operator of Papaya Wellness. This immersive, one week long experience will take place in a small town outside Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Together we invite participants to put themselves on a new path toward greater energy, purpose, and health.
